A near-infrared spectrograph, which splits light into its individual colors to form a rainbow-like spectrum, will soon be shipped to South Africa from UW–Madison. Custom-built here by staff in the Washburn Astronomical Laboratories, it will expand the capabilities of the Southern African Large Telescope.

For the first time in program history, the Wisconsin volleyball team has won a national title. Fans  celebrated with the victorious Badgers on Sunday at the Field House after the players returned home from the NCAA finals in Columbus, Ohio.

Fourth-seeded Wisconsin swept No. 13 UCLA in the NCAA Madison Regional volleyball semifinals at the Field House on Thursday night, 25-16, 25-18, 25-17. On Saturday, UW will play 12th-seeded Minnesota, which advanced earlier Thursday with a five-set win over No. 5 Baylor.
