Wisconsin defeated Nebraska 25-18, 25-22, 25-19 to advance to the NCAA Women's Volleyball Championship Semifinal against No. 1 Baylor in Pittsburgh next Thursday. It was No. 4 UW's third sweep of the No. 5 Huskers this season. This will be the Badgers' third national semifinal in team history.

The No. 4 Wisconsin volleyball team rolled into the Sweet 16 of the 2019 NCAA Tournament with a straight-set win over UCLA on Saturday night during the second round of Division 1 championship play at the UW Field House. The Badgers move on to face No. 13 Texas A&M. UPDATE: UW defeated Texas A&M Friday to advance to the Elite Eight.

The No. 4 Wisconsin volleyball team rallied back to win its first-round NCAA matchup with Illinois State on Friday night at the UW Field House. On Saturday, the Badgers advanced to the tournament's Sweet 16 with a straight-set win over UCLA.

Tunneling under Bascom Hill

A huge, custom-made borer has started drilling a 640-foot-long tunnel under Bascom Hill to carry utilities. The borer, 11 feet in diameter, was lowered into a reinforced earthen pit between South Hall and the Law Building, where it runs on hydraulic tracks installed there, filling carts with earth as it excavates the face of the tunnel.

On Saturday, participants in UW–Madison's Family Weekend gathered seeds from native prairie plants in the Biocore Prairie of the Lakeshore Nature Preserve on the UW campus. The prairie is a site for lab courses, research projects, service learning, and collaborative research and teaching efforts.
