Pay plan increase to take effect in July

UW–Madison names Haddix new School of Education dean

June 6, 2024

Haddix has held numerous leadership positions in her 16 years at Syracuse University and currently serves as associate provost for strategic initiatives. She also led for two terms as chair of the Reading and Language Arts department in the School of Education at Syracuse. Haddix describes her work as “very interdisciplinary” and believes the School of Education’s focus on education, arts and health is aligned with her vision of what a holistic approach to education should be.

UW–Madison presents paid parental leave policy to Board of Regents

Four years of graduate assistantship minimum stipend increases planned

UW–Madison has committed to increasing minimum graduate assistant stipends for the next four years in a forecasting plan, which emphasizes factors that are critical to student success: tuition remission, health and dental insurance benefits, paid vacation and sick leave, and mentorship training. The new approach gives students, principal investigators, departments, programs, schools, and colleges the ability to budget for increases to minimum stipends several years into the future.

Search begins for new secretary of academic staff

A search committee is being formed to identify candidates for the next secretary of the academic staff. The person selected will replace Jake Smith, who served since 2014 in the Office of the Secretary of the Academic Staff as deputy secretary and then as secretary.

Public presentations scheduled for vice chancellor for research search candidates

Three finalists for the vice chancellor for research will visit campus over the next three weeks. The candidates’ names and CVs will be made available to the UW–Madison community 48 hours prior to each visit.
