A new state-of-the art facility to support student and community health will nearly triple the size of the former Natatorium, serving more students and community members with recreational and well-being services.
In honor of Barry Alvarez’s last day before retiring, red accent lighting illuminated the exterior of Bascom Hall and terrace plantings on June 30.
Florence Bascom was proud of her father John Bascom because he was a strong early advocate for women in academia. She proposed renaming University Hall in her father’s honor, and on June 22, 1920, a formal dedication took place.

The employee, Roberto Vergara, began working at the university in September of 2009. He was employed in custodial services for the university’s Division of Facilities Planning & Management.
David Darling, director of the Facilities Management and Operations Center for Sandia National Laboratories, has been named associate vice chancellor for facilities planning and management at the University of Wisconsin–Madison.
