With ceremony and salutes, ROTC graduates begin their military service
Rear Adm. Stephen C. Evans, the head of Naval Service Training Command, commissioned 35 members of the University of Wisconsin–Madison Reserve Officers Training Corps in a ceremony May 13 at Gordon Dining and Event Center.
Starting their service
On May 13, 32 members of the UW–Madison Reserve Officer Training Corps were commissioned to serve in the Air Force, Army, Navy and Marine Corps.

Remembering the fallen on Veterans Day
To mark Veterans Day on Friday, volunteers took turns on Bascom Hill reading the names and hometowns of more than 6,800 U.S. service members killed in military action in Iraq and Afghanistan since 2001.

After 26 years in flight, Murdoch lands with UW Naval ROTC
Capt. Christopher Murdoch, who spent 26 years on active duty in some of the world’s major trouble spots as an aviator in the U.S. Navy, has taken command of the UW–Madison Naval ROTC unit. During a July ceremony, Murdoch took over for Capt. Russ Haas, who retired after three years as Wisconsin ROTC’s commanding officer.
