Roxann L. Engelstad, mechanical engineering, has been appointed to the Stephen P. Timoshenko Professorship.

Aristotle Georgiades, art department, has been awarded a faculty development grant for 2009–10.

Robert J. Hamers, chemistry, has been appointed to the Arthur W. Adamson Professorship.

Jo Handelsman, Department of Plant Pathology, has been honored by the American Society for Microbiology with the 2009 Carski Foundation Distinguished Undergraduate Teaching Award, which recognizes an educator for outstanding teaching of microbiology to undergraduate students.
