WID Town Center previewed May 6

April 22, 2010 By Chris Barncard

Get a sneak peek at the design, attractions and menus of Town Center at “Journey to the Center of the Institutes,” a preview May 6 in the Memorial Union’s Tripp Commons and Deck.

Encompassing the first floor of the Wisconsin Institutes for Discovery, Town Center’s mission is to draw the public and campus community to the building — which will open in December on University Avenue between North Orchard Street and North Randall Avenue — immersing them in the research underway in the public and private labs, fostering collaboration and cross-disciplinary inspiration, and filling stomachs.

The “Journey” will give visitors a feel for the Town Center’s interactive science exhibits, a tribute to UW–Madison’s rich research history and three dining spots — a restaurant, a café and a soda fountain.

The previews are free, but registration is required. Registration can be done online or call (608) 890-2087 and choose one of three start times: 10:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m. or 3 p.m.
