The event will be held at H.F. DeLuca Forum in the Wisconsin Institutes for Discovery building, 330 N. Orchard St., from 4-7 p.m.

Design Summit 3 focuses on human-centered design in order to create a dialogue between UW–Madison researchers and industry partners.

Michael Shanks, a professor of archeology and design at Stanford University, will deliver the keynote lecture, “What’s the Human in Human-Centered Design?”

Former Chancellor John Wiley will kick off the event, which also features flash talks by designers from Trek Bicycle, Kohler, and Filene Research Institute.

The summit will conclude with a forum discussion about design in higher education by top academic leaders, including Provost Paul DeLuca, Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration Darrell Bazzell, and deans from across campus.

Participants will benefit by engaging and discussing the importance of design for the university and the state of Wisconsin.

Design Summit 3 is organized by the School of Human Ecology, DesignLab, and Design Concepts, with additional support from the CIO Office and Filene Research Institute.

The summit is open to faculty and staff from the university. A limited amount of seating is available for Wisconsin-based design and business professionals.

Registration is available here.
