Update: Additional Shell facilities reopen
Oct. 1 Update: Recreational Sports is making preparations to open the Track portion of the SHELL at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1. The track, fitness areas, and Courts 1 and 2 will be open. Courts 3 and 4 will remain closed for the time being as RecSports continue to assess those areas.
Sept. 25 Update: The Camp Randall Sports Center, also known as the Shell, at UW–Madison remains partially closed as campus and state officials work together to determine the extent of damage caused by a ruptured water pipe.
The ice rink has reopened and ice hockey intramurals will begin on Sept. 30. Assessments are continuing on the courts and track Updates ice rink schedules have been posted.
The flooding was discovered on Sunday. There is no timetable for reopening the facility, located at 1430 Monroe St. The Shell averages more than 800 users per day.
Students and general public members who use the facility are encouraged to use the Natatorium, located along Lake Mendota on the west end of campus, and the Southeast Recreational Facility, located near the Kohl Center, while the Shell is closed.
