The UW–Madison Office of Sustainability, which grew out of the campuswide Sustainability Initiative, will officially launch on Friday, March 9, with an event at the Wisconsin Institutes for Discovery.
The contest is in its fourth year and open to all UW–Madison undergraduate and graduate students. Previously known as the Climate Leadership Challenge, the competition has been renamed the Global Stewards Sustainability Prize to reflect a broader focus on real-world solutions to sustainability.
In collaboration with St. Vincent de Paul and Dumpster Diving Revolution, Student United Way has designated numerous areas for University of Wisconsin–Madison students moving in and out of apartments to donate unwanted items to local community organizations.
Craig H. Benson, Wisconsin Distinguished Professor of geological engineering and civil and environmental engineering, has been named the first director for sustainability research and education at the University of Wisconsin–Madison.
Though enticing, the food spread across the tables is only part of the point of this meal. The two dozen students at this Global Food for Thought dinner are here to feed their minds as well as their stomachs.
