Search underway for new vice provost for enrollment management

A search-and-screen committee has been appointed to help identify and select candidates for the next vice provost for enrollment management.

The committee is being chaired by Steve Cramer, vice provost for teaching and learning. Other committee members include: Lori Christianson, admissions counselor in the Office of Admissions; Eric Grodsky, professor of sociology and educational policy studies; Shirin Malekpour, associate dean for teaching and learning administration in the College of Letters & Science; Jocelyn Milner, vice provost for academic affairs and director of Academic Planning and Institutional Research; Greg Offerman, associate director for advising and outreach in the Office of Student Financial Aid; Patrick Sims, deputy vice chancellor for diversity and inclusion; and Beth Warner, associate registrar in student services.

The position is open only to current UW–Madison employees.

The vice provost for enrollment management provides leadership in planning, developing, executing and assessing a strategic undergraduate enrollment management plan for the university and is responsible for organizing and creating a vision for the Division of Enrollment Management, which comprises the Office of Admissions and Recruitment, the Office of Student Financial Aid, the Office of the Registrar, and the central management office of the division.

The mission of the Division of Enrollment Management is to provide access to higher education at UW–Madison, to foster collaborations among its units and with campus partners to ensure student success, and to serve as a national thought leader in innovative enrollment strategies.

The division consists of 160 full-time employees, 31 part-time employees and 110 student employees. It has an operating budget of $17.5 million and a pass-through budget of more than $478 million including financial aid. The vice provost is a member of the Provost’s Executive Group and the Chancellor’s Leadership Council.

Steve Hahn is stepping down from the role after serving as vice provost since April 2015 and interim vice provost for two years prior to that.
