Police remind fans about game day security measures

UW–Madison police remind all football fans that security measures enacted for last week’s game remain in effect for this Saturday’s contest between the Badgers and the Indiana Hoosiers.

Among the measures:

  • All carry-ins are prohibited. No thermoses, backpacks, coolers, umbrellas, large purses, etc. will be allowed inside the stadium. Items not allowed in must be returned to your vehicle.
  • Any blankets, small purses, etc. will be subject to inspection prior to entering the stadium.
  • Drivers of vehicles accessing lots around the stadium should expect to comply with search requests.
  • All traffic on Breese Terrace is banned between noon and 4 p.m. Fans are again encouraged to arrive early and bring only their game tickets with them.

“We would once more like to thank all Badger fans and Madison community members who so graciously and patiently cooperated with us to provide as safe an environment as possible,” says UW-Madison Police Capt. Dale Burke. “We anticipate that with that same level of cooperation again this week that disruptions to people’s normal routines will be minimal.”

Security measures for home games will be reevaluated following this game The Badgers next home game is the Oct. 27 Homecoming game with Michigan State.
