Panels focues on migrant worker issues

February 25, 2002

A panel discussion Wednesday, Feb. 27, explores the history of the migrant community, the issues migrant workers face, and ways that university students can act to improve the situation.

The event is planned 6:30-8 p.m., Memorial Union, 800 Langdon St. (check Today in the Union for room location). Panelists include David Duran, civil rights compliance officer for the state of Wisconsin Department of Health and Family Services, and Rachel Rodriguez, assistant professor in the UW–Madison School of Nursing. Organizers also hope to offer personal perspectives from family members of migrant workers.

The panel is part of “Hot Topics 2002,” a discussion series sponsored by the Morgridge Center for Public Service, Wisconsin Union Directorate and University Health Services.
