As the fall 2026 semester progresses, we ask you to join us in encouraging and supporting faculty, academic staff and university staff participation in shared governance.
UW–Madison’s longstanding commitment to shared governance is an important part of the campus leadership ecosystem. When faculty, academic staff, university staff, students and administrators openly exchange a variety of perspectives and thoughtfully challenge ideas, we make stronger decisions and adopt more inclusive policies.
In addition to strengthening the decision-making process, participation in governance also provides opportunities for professional and personal growth.
As you hold employee meetings throughout the remainder of the academic year, please take time to promote governance opportunities, both campuswide and at the school/college/division and department/unit levels. We appreciate you joining us in encouraging participation.
