Jesse A. Miller in custody
The University of Wisconsin–Madison Police Department has confirmed that Jesse A. Miller the person of interest in Tuesday’s incident at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics has been taken into custody by the San Diego California Police Department early this morning.
During the early stages of the investigation into Tuesday’s phone threats targeting the University hospital, leads were developed that led University Police Detectives to believe Miller may be in the San Diego area. Over several days these leads were pursued with limited success.
On Sept. 27, the Madison Police obtained information that led them to believe Miller may have been at 2005 E. Washington Ave. in Madison. Madison Police determined Miller was not at that address and conducted follow-up that led them toward the likelihood that Miller was in San Diego.
Last night the MPD investigated a phone call from Miller and worked cooperatively with the San Diego Police Department. Miller was located in the City of San Diego and was taken into custody early this morning on the probation violation warrant issued by the Wisconsin Division of Community Corrections and verified through the Dane County Sheriff’s Office. Miller’s identity was verified by the use of fingerprints.
More information is being developed and the investigation by the University Police is continuing.
The University Police would like to thank the Madison Police Department and the Dane County Sheriff’s Office for the joint efforts in locating Miller.
