Wisconsin Singers to perform Nov. 11 and 12

October 31, 2005 By Daniel Uttech

The Wisconsin Singers, UW–Madison’s song and dance troupe, will energize and excite audiences with its show “Let’s Go to the Movies” on Nov. 11 and 12 at the Wisconsin Union Theater, 800 Langdon St. Both shows begin at 7:30 p.m.

“It will be very entertaining,” Wisconsin Singers Director/Producer Robin Whitty-Novotny said. “There’s something for everyone.”

The performance will feature music from the last 40 years of American film, including tunes from Fred Astaire/Ginger Rogers movies to current hits from Moulin Rouge. Film clips will be used throughout the show to introduce the medleys.

The Wisconsin Singers take pride in producing a high quality, professional show. This year’s choreographer, Chad Schiro, was the associate choreographer for “Urban Cowboy: The Musical,” which earned a 2003 Tony nomination for best choreography. The associate choreographer for “Let’s Go to the Movies” is Michelle Hammar, a Radio City Music Hall Rockette.

Notes Whitty-Novotny: “People who have been to New York and have seen countless Broadway shows will come up to me and say ‘[The Singers’] show is just as good if not better.'”
