Wisconsin Alumni Student Board hosts All-Campus Party

April 19, 2002

From April 21-26, the Wisconsin Alumni Student Board, the student arm of the Wisconsin Alumni Association, will host the second annual All-Campus Party 2002.

Created by UW–Madison students, All-Campus Party 2002 is a weeklong, cost-free, alcohol-free party celebrating the beginning of spring and the end of the school year.

The week kicks off on Sunday, April 21, with a Community Plunge Service Day, when students can volunteer to give back to the Madison community. Featured events of the week include a free UW Jazz Big Band concert and East Coast swing lessons at Luther’s Blues on Wednesday; a free breakfast of coffee, fruit and doughnuts on Bascom Hill, and a Battle of the Bands at Engineering Hall on Thursday; and a free pizza lunch and Culture & Music Festival at Library Mall on Friday.

“Last year’s All-Campus Party 2001 was such a great success, the challenge was to create another party this year with even more diverse events,” says party director Gina Vosseller. “We really want to bring students, faculty and the Madison community together for a week celebrating another great school year.”

WAA President and CEO Paula Bonner says the All-Campus Party 2002 planning team has done just that. “The students have put a lot of work into this year’s event,” says Bonner. “The week is so action-packed that everyone will find an event to attend. It’s our pleasure to play a part in recognizing the hard work of every student on campus over the last year.”

Partners on campus include WAA, the Greek community, the Wisconsin Union Directorate, the RWJ Project, Morgridge Center for Community Service, The Daily Cardinal, Student Leadership Program, Hoofers, the Campus Coalition for Sexual Assault Awareness, the Polygon Engineering Student Council, the Office of the Chancellor and the Associated Students of Madison.

Corporate sponsors of All-Campus Party 2002 include Charter Communications, Topper’s Pizza, Coca-Cola, Krispy Kreme, Starbucks, Kohl’s Food Emporium, the Orpheum Theatre, University Square 4 Theatres, Club Amazon, 180 Energy Drink and Luther’s Blues.
