Web chat today about the New Badger Partnership

February 24, 2011 By John Lucas

Chancellor Biddy Martin and other university experts will chat with the campus community to answer questions and share thoughts about UW–Madison’s future under a state budget proposal that would give the university additional flexibilities and distinguish it as a public authority.

The event will be held from 12:30-1:15 p.m. (CST) today, Thursday, Feb. 24. The chat can be accessed here.

Called the New Badger Partnership and discussed extensively during the past year, the plan would allow for the use of more efficient management practices and innovation in tuition, personnel policies, facilities management and purchasing.

With a stronger and more flexible business model, the university would be able to deliver more graduates, create more jobs and find cost savings — all while preserving the public accountability and transparency.

Participants include:

  • Chancellor Biddy Martin;
  • Vice Chancellor for Administration Darrell Bazzell;
  • Dean of Students Lori Berquam.

Read about the plan at the New Badger Partnership website and at the university’s budget website.

Chat participants are encouraged to submit their own questions or simply sit back and observe the chat. For those who can’t participate in the live chat today, a complete HTML transcript will be posted immediately following.

Other upcoming events will include a discussion with the Board of Regents at 10 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 25, and upcoming in-person campus forums.

If you’re experiencing technical difficulties, or have additional questions after the chat concludes, email additional questions to chancellor@news.wisc.edu.
