#UWSummer: Badgers are active in summer, from the terrace to Thailand

July 25, 2018

UW-Madison students have all sorts of learning experiences in the summer, in all sorts of places.

The university’s #UWSummer campaign July 16 to 20 showed the scope and impact of UW–Madison student activity this summer, both on campus and off. Activities were in the classroom, at internships, in the research lab, overseas and elsewhere.

Among the hundreds of posts on Twitter and Instagram were:

  • Katie Mummah, a graduate student in nuclear engineering, is working an internship at Los Alamos National Laboratory.
  • Devan Leistikow, a third year Doctor of Veterinary Medicine student from Milwaukee, is interning at Wisconsin Big Cat Rescue in Rock Springs:
  • Jack Schnell, a genetics and genomics major in the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences, is serving a  UW Microbiology International Internship in Bangkok, Thailand:

  • Gina Luu, a biochemistry major from Eagan, Minnesota, is doing research in the lab of Professor Katherine Henzler-Wildman.
