UWPD reminds employees to safeguard belongings

July 16, 2010 By John Lucas

The University of Wisconsin- Madison Police Department is currently investigating three separate incidents in which cash was stolen from either women’s purses or a man’s wallet while they were left unattended in non-public areas.

The three thefts were all reported in the afternoon on Monday, July 12 from the following locations: the Genetics Building, an office within UW Hospital and Clinics and at UW Health Sports Medicine, Research Park Clinic.

At this time it is unknown if the incidents are related and UWPD does not have any suspect information. However, employees are reminded to be vigilant for people who are out of place or otherwise should not have access to non-public spaces and offices.

Please remind your co-workers to secure their valuables while away from their offices or desk, and lock doors behind you when you leave even for short periods of time.

If you see anyone who looks out of place or acting suspicious, please don’t
hesitate to contact UWPD at 264-COPS, or call 911 in an emergency.
