UW Opera presents ‘Vanessa’

March 29, 2005

In a premiere for the city of Madison, “Vanessa” finds two women obsessing over the same man in Samuel Barber’s 1958 opera, presented by the University Opera at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, April 15.

Based upon the story by Danish writer Isak Dinesen, the plot hinges on the women’s willingness to wait for men who may or may not return to them.

University Opera also will perform the work at 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 17, and at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 19. Tickets, $18 general/$10 UW–Madison students, are available through the Vilas Hall Box Office, 262-1500.
