UW-Madison tops CPA exam performance

UW–Madison students have topped the nation in passing the Uniform CPA Examination over the past decade.

Each year the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy ranks the top 10 colleges and universities with the highest percentage of candidates passing all subjects taken in the CPA exam. The results from 1989 to 1998 (20 examinations):

  • UW-Madison was ranked 13 times in the top 10 for candidates without an advanced degree. Second place went to the University of Pennsylvania with 11 rankings and third place to the University of Michigan with 10 rankings. UW-Whitewater tied for fourth with nine listings.
  • For candidates taking the exam with advanced degrees, UW–Madison ranked fifth over the decade.
