Special Day, Special Fun UW-Madison did a very friendly takeover at the Wisconsin State Fair on Aug. 7. More than 200 volunteers from the campus community worked together to offer hands-on exploration stations, lessons on the art of making cheese and sausage, an authentic pep rally, a parade led by Bucky and the UW Marching Band, and more. The Wisconsin Alumni Association was also on hand to collect donated school supplies or cash for supplies to benefit Milwaukee-area children. That effort smashed last year’s numbers by more than doubling the bags of supplies, bringing in more than $5,400, and offering ticket discounts to the more than 6,200 folks who donated.
