UW-Madison Day at the State Fair

July 28, 2008 By

The University of Wisconsin–Madison’s legacy of service and outreach to the state of Wisconsin will be celebrated at the Wisconsin State Fair on Wednesday, Aug. 6.

On the main stage, there will be science demonstrations, including the popular “Wonders of Physics;” musical performances by the UW–Madison Student Brass Quintet; and an old-fashioned Badger pep rally. Several other activities will be taking place on the mall from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Bucky Badger and members of the UW Marching Band will be on hand, along with UW–Madison alumni from around the world. The Wisconsin Alumni Association reports that nearly 100 alumni volunteers will be part of the day’s events.

More than 20 “Exploration Stations” will be presented, while sports fans can test their skills with Badger pop-a-shot and football games and get a look at some of the Wisconsin Badgers’ trophies.

As part of UW-Madison Day at the Fair, the university is sponsoring a drive to collect school supplies for Milwaukee-area children in need of those educational tools.
