Traffic advisory for move-in days

Although some students will be arriving earlier in the week, the biggest move-in days for freshmen will be Friday, Aug. 27, and Saturday, Aug. 28. Here is some important traffic information for parents and others who may be driving in the campus area during those two days:

  • Observatory Drive from Charter Street to Babcock Drive will be one-way westbound from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
  • Elm Drive from Observatory Drive to the lake will be one-way northbound from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. both days. Willow Drive will be one-way westbound, and will be used as the exit from the Elm Drive area. All vehicles using Willow Drive will have to go all the way to Marsh Lane and Walnut Street. Drivers should travel slowly and stay away from the bike/running paths along the lakeshore.
  • Lake Street between Johnson and Dayton streets will be closed to general traffic from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. on both days, but will be used for move-in parking. Several parking lots will also be used for move-in unloading.
  • All drivers coming in Park Street from the south during move-in week should be aware that there is only one lane of traffic in each direction on Park between Regent and Dayton streets, and eastbound turns on to Dayton Street are prohibited. Dayton Street is closed between Murray and Park streets due to the Park Street reconstruction project.
