Ceremony to honor John Muir, legendary preservationist
To recognize the 175th anniversary of the birth of John Muir, and to honor one of history's most influential preservationists, a plaque will be dedicated on Thursday, June 20 within sight of Muir's dormitory room in North Hall. An "audio field trip" on Memorial Day will explore a restored marsh on the University of Wisconsin–Madison campus - a part of the university's Lakeshore Nature Preserve. The ongoing ecological restoration along the shoreline of the University of Wisconsin–Madison has reached a hillside near Eagle Heights that was once the summer home to hundreds of graduate students.
