On May 26, the construction team of the new Wisconsin Institutes for Discovery held a “topping out” ceremony, traditional in the building industry for recognizing the construction milestone of placing and welding the last beam at the top of a building.
Art Lofts opening celebration continues
The tower of bright red steel girders signals that the former university warehouse at the edge of campus has been transformed. Facing the Kohl Center across Frances Street, the tower marks the main entrance to the Art Lofts, the new state-of-the-art facility for the Art Department.
