Survey highlights pandemic stressors, finds improving climate for many, but not all, underrepresented faculty
The survey found a large majority of UW faculty feel respected and supported in their work. Respondents marked improvement for some, though not all, faculty from historically underrepresented groups.
The recommendations presented by the Campus Climate Survey Task Force have now been forwarded to university leaders, who will review them to assess possible implementation strategies.
Most UW staff reported feeling welcomed and respected at work. The survey also indicated areas for improvement. Next steps include soliciting feedback on the results and identifying strategies for improvement.
Director Kacie Lucchini Butcher discusses the UW–Madison Public History Project — "a multi-year effort to uncover and give voice to those who experienced, challenged and overcame prejudice on campus" — as it builds toward a public exhibit in fall 2022.
