Strike against cancer at Bowlin’ for Colons
Bowlers from across Wisconsin plan to “pin” colorectal cancer by participating in the twelfth annual Bowlin’ for Colons fundraiser on Sunday, March 3.
All proceeds benefit colon cancer research at the UW Carbone Cancer Center. More than $200,000 has been raised by bowlers since the event was started in 2001.
Participants take pledges to bowl at one of several bowling centers in Madison, Waunakee, Fitchburg and Waupun. The participating bowling centers are Dream Lanes and Schwoegler Park Towne Lanes in Madison, Waun-a-Bowl in Waunakee, Ten Pin Alley in Fitchburg and Jud-Son’s in Waupun.
Colorectal cancer is the third-leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the U.S. The American Cancer Society estimates that in 2013, more than 102,000 new cases of colon cancer and 40,000 new cases of rectal cancer will be diagnosed. As many as 50,000 people could die of colorectal cancer in 2013.
