Skop elected to society’s board

Ahna Skop, associate professor of genetics at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, has been elected to the board of the Society for Advancement of Hispanics/Chicanos and Native Americans in Science (SACNAS).

The Santa Cruz, Calif.-based group has a 40-year history of fostering the success of Hispanic/Chicano and Native American scientists, from college students to professionals, to attain advanced degrees, careers and positions of leadership in science.

SACNAS and its affiliated groups have made major advances over four decades in opening the STEM fields to underrepresented minorities and in diversifying the nation’s scientific workforce.

Skop will serve a three-year term on the board.
