Science Expeditions = April + Science + Outreach

January 14, 2003

Science Expeditions 2003, a series of outreach events throughout April, will welcome the public to explore the campus and experience science as discovery.

Building on experience gained through the Sesquicentennial Open House in 1999 and the Campus Open House in 2000, Science Expeditions will share new scientific research and insights with people of all ages through hands-on demonstrations and interactive exhibits that enable participants to share in the thrill of discovery.

Tom Zinnen, co-organizer of the monthlong event and outreach specialist for the UW Biotechnology Center, says that Science Expeditions reflects UW–Madison’s commitment to outreach and the Wisconsin Idea by sharing with the public the range of science programs available on campus.

“We’re eager to invite researchers and outreachers from all sciences,” says Zinnen. “From bench to field, from ingenuity to imagination, from controlled experiment to bioethics — all aspects of science and science outreach are welcome.”

Limited funding is available to help cover costs of producing an event. For information, contact Zinnen at 265-2420 or zinnen@biotech.wisc.edu. Those from the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences may also contact Ellen Maurer at 263-4781 or eamaurer@wisc.edu.
