Rowing teams win national championships

For the first time in 18 years, Wisconsin men’s rowing can call itself national champions. Wisconsin’s varsity eight defeated No. 1-ranked Washington and the rest of the field Saturday, June 7, to win the 2008 Intercollegiate Rowing Association National Championships for the first time since 1990. Also on Saturday, the Wisconsin women’s lightweight rowers won the national championship — their fourth title in the last five years. Read more »

Both races were held on a 2000-meter course on the Cooper River in Camden, N.J.
