Retirement association membership swells

June 15, 1999

More than 600 current and retired university employees have become charter members of the UW–Madison Retirement Association as of the beginning of June, according to Joe Corry, the group’s acting executive director.

The association was formed last year to enhance retirement services for current and future retirees. More than 200 people attended the association’s annual meeting May 12 to elect officers, approve bylaws and learn about improvements in the Wisconsin Retirement System. Alma Baron was elected the association’s first president, and guest speaker was David Mills, deputy secretary of the Department of Employe Trust Funds.

Corry says charter memberships in the association are still being accepted. The application was included in the April issue of “The Sifter,” the association’s newsletter. For more information, call (608) 262-0641.
