With nighttime giving way to dawn, members of the Wisconsin women’s crew team use a pier near the Porter Boathouse to put their boats in the water before rowing along Lake Mendota during a recent sunrise practice.

Mist rises from the water as a flock of ducks looking not nearly as organized makes way for the crew. Alongside in the coach’s boat are Head Coach Bebe Bryans and graduate assistant Joanna Poinsatte.
