Quality improvement office names interim director
Following the retirement of Maury Cotter, Darin Harris has been named the interim director of UW–Madison’s Office of Quality Improvement. OQI facilitates initiatives across campus, which include strategic planning, process improvement, transforming curriculum, restructuring programs and departments, developing effective academic units, and improving administrative services.
Harris has worked as a consultant and facilitator in OQI since 2004. Recently, he received a distinguished prefix title at UW–Madison and was appointed as a faculty affiliate with the La Follette School of Public Affairs.
In 2007, he teamed with FacilitatorU to create a comprehensive, weeklong facilitator certification program that has drawn more than 500 participants from across the U.S., Canada, Europe, and Asia. At the national level, Harris is a board member of the Network for Change and Continuous Innovation in Higher Education.
Before coming to OQI, Harris spent 10 years as a policy facilitator, conflict resolution specialist and organizational consultant for the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources. He is an alumnus of UW–Madison and enjoys exploring Madison with his wife and two children.
