Publication Features Biology Education at UW-Madison

Beyond Bio 101 — a report from Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) on innovation in undergraduate biology education — features two initiatives from UW–Madison. Professor of plant pathology Jo Handelsman is featured in a chapter titled “Changes in the Classroom” for her interactive style of teaching. The report also highlights the work of plant pathology professor Paul Williams who has been leading an effort to renew and revitalize biology education across the UW–Madison campus. The creation of the Center for Biology Education has provided life sciences faculty with a resource for conceiving and implementing innovative programs and techniques for teaching and learning.
