Program for Reflection and Remembrance

September 14, 2001

“Remember that we are a community, united by loss, by strength, by our condemnation of hatred and violence, and by our hope and desire to see a better day.”

– Interim Provost Gary Sandefur, Program for Reflection and Remembrance

A crowd, estimated at 20,000 people from all corners of the campus and the community, gathered on Library Mall Friday for a National Day of Prayer and Remembrance. Students, faculty, staff and the general public attended the program to honor the victims of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon. The program was co-hosted by the Dane County Board of Supervisors and the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Following are images from the event.
