Poet laureate Collins to speak

America’s poet laureate, Billy Collins, will read on campus from his work as part of the Wisconsin Book Festival on Wednesday, Oct. 22.

Named poet laureate in 2001, Collins is the author of seven poetry collections, most recently “Nine Horses,” “Sailing Alone Around the Room: New & Selected Poems” and “Taking Off Emily Dickinson’s Clothes.” He is a Guggenheim fellow and a professor of English at City University of New York.

Collins will appear at 7 p.m. in the Wisconsin Union Theater. Sponsored by the UW–Madison Libraries, the event is part of the Wisconsin Book Festival, held in conjunction with UW–Madison’s CineFest Wednesday-Sunday, Oct. 22-26.
