Parking, shuttle available for WIAA tourney

February 22, 1999 By

Fans who will be attending the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association (WIAA) high school wrestling tournament at the Kohl Center Feb. 24-26 are being urged to park at the Dane County Coliseum and ride a Madison Metro shuttle bus to the arena.

“We encourage people to take advantage of this convenient shuttle service. Daytime parking is very limited in the vicinity of the Kohl Center, and, on the days that the tournament is taking place, there will be no university parking lots available until 4 p.m.,” said Patti Lux-Weber, special events parking coordinator for UW–Madison’s Office of Transportation Services.

The cost of parking at the Coliseum will be $3.75, and the shuttle fare is only $1 for the round-trip ride to and from the tournament. Buses will run every 30 minutes on the hour and half hour. They will pick up passengers by the fountain in front of the Coliseum and drop them off right in front of the Kohl Center on West Dayton Street.

The hours of operation during the wrestling tournament will be: 2-11 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 24; 8 a.m.-10:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 25; and 8 a.m.-11:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 26.

The Coliseum/Kohl Center shuttle will also be in operation during the WIAA High School Girls Basketball Tournament March 11-13 and the High School Boys Basketball Tournament March 18-20. For both of those tournaments, the buses will run from 6:30 a.m.-10:15 p.m. Thursday and Friday, and from 9 a.m.-10:15 p.m. Saturday.
