Officials update campus-area road projects

October 22, 2010 By

The summer construction season on the University of Wisconsin–Madison campus is finally drawing to a close after more than five months of traffic detours and delays. The work on several major utility projects began in mid-May following spring commencement weekend.

Transportation Services at UW–Madison has provided these traffic updates:

  • North Park Street and Observatory Drive: Two-way traffic on North Park Street is scheduled to resume on or about Wednesday, Oct. 27. Utility work in Lot 105 near Humanities will affect the parking lot, but not the street.

At the same time, Observatory Drive will open up to two-way traffic, which will allow the 80 and 85 campus buses to finally resume their regular routes.

  • Langdon Street: Two-way traffic from Lake Street to Park Street will not resume until mid-November. In the meantime, it will remain one-way westbound.

Looking ahead: Utility work will begin around this intersection in the spring of 2011 at the intersection of Charter Street and Observatory Drive and will result in some road closures. The details of that project will not be available until a later date.
