Office of Corporate Relations opens July 1

June 30, 2003

The Office of Corporate Relations, UW–Madison’s new initiative to strengthen relations with business and industry in Wisconsin, officially began operation July 1 under the direction of Charles Hoslet.

As first announced on May 1 by Chancellor John D. Wiley, the initiative by the university is designed “to better serve the increasingly complex needs of the business community and help build a stronger Wisconsin economy in the 21st century.”

Hoslet, who has been senior special assistant to the chancellor for state government relations, will continue to report directly to Wiley. The office is supported entirely with private funds.

Hoslet says the office will reach out to businesses in Wisconsin and beyond.

“Our primary task is to listen to the needs of the business community, and help companies access the wide range of resources and expertise available to them on this campus,” he says.

Hoslet, who holds a law degree from UW–Madison and an undergraduate degree from Marquette University in Milwaukee, has served in the Office of the Chancellor since 1997.

Businesses can contact the office by calling (608) 263-2840.
