Kelly Cherry, Department of English, has recently published her 18th and 19th full-length books, “Girl in a Library: On Women Writers and the Writing Life” and “The Retreats of Thought: Poems.”

Ian Duncan, Department of Medical Sciences in the School of Veterinary Medicine, was selected to the American College of Veterinary Surgeons Foundation board of trustees.

Becky Hoffman, a microbiologist in the Wisconsin State Laboratory of Hygiene’s environmental flow cytometry unit, received the Golden Spigot Award from the Water Quality and Technology Division of the American Water Works Association.

John Lee, industrial and systems engineering, was named the Emerson Electric Quality and Productivity Improvement Professor, effective July 1.

Carol Menassa, civil and environmental engineering, was named the M.A. Mortenson Company Construction Engineering and Management Profoessor, effective July 1.

The Modern Language Association of America has awarded its 12th Aldo and Jeanne Scaglione Publication Award for a Manuscript in Italian Literary Studies to Kristin Phillips-Court, Department of French and Italian, for her manuscript “The Perfect Genre: Drama and Painting in Renaissance Italy.”

Jeffrey Russell, civil and environmental engineering, was named the Pieper Family Chair —Servant Leadership in the College of Engineering, effective July 1.
