McAnulty named interim dean of the School of Veterinary Medicine

June 26, 2012 By Terry Devitt

Jonathan McAnulty, a professor and chair of the UW–Madison School of Veterinary Medicine’s Department of Surgical Sciences, has been named interim dean of the school, effective July 1, pending completion of the search process for a new dean.

McAnulty was appointed late last week by UW–Madison Provost Paul DeLuca. McAnulty will serve as interim dean until a new dean is selected from a pool of four finalists to replace Daryl Buss, who is retiring at the end of this month.

The search for a new dean, only the third in the school’s history, is expected to be completed within the next several months.

The search and screen committee, led by Professor of Pathobiological Sciences Tony Goldberg, submitted the names of four candidates as finalists for the position earlier this month.

Finalists will interview with Interim Chancellor David Ward, DeLuca and other campus leaders, and will give brief public presentations on their vision for the school and the future of veterinary medical education, research and outreach.
