Madison police seek information about Doty Street burglary

Madison police are seeking information about a residential burglary that took place in the early morning hours today (Dec. 30).

A member of the UW–Madison community was the victim of the incident, which took place in the 400 block of West Doty Street.

According to the Madison Police Department (MPD), the victim was sleeping in his bedroom and was awakened by suspect near his bed. The suspect displayed an edged weapon and demanded money be given to him. A small amount of cash was taken along with some personal items, and the suspect fled in an unknown direction. Madison police officers arrived on scene just moments later. The suspect is believed to have gained access through forced entry.

The suspect is described by MPD as a black male approximately 30-40 years old, between 5 feet, 8 inches and 5 feet, 9 inches tall, weighing approximately 140-160 pounds. He is described as having a dark complexion, last seen wearing a dark colored jacket, possibly leather, and a stocking cap.
