Madison kids ‘trick or treat’ with campus Greeks

October 27, 2008 By John Lucas

University of Wisconsin–Madison fraternities and sororities will again host “Trick or Treat with the Greeks,” a unique opportunity for area children to experience a fun and safe Halloween on campus, from 2-6 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 29.

The event is expected to bring more than 300 costumed children from area non-profit after-school programs, including the Casper Group, Vera Court Neighborhood Center, the Bayview Center and the Boys and Girls Club of Dane County.

While on campus, children will participate in events such as touring haunted houses, cookie decorating and pumpkin painting in the fraternity and sorority chapter houses on Langdon Street.

The event is organized by the Interfraternity Council and Panhellenic Association. An estimated 500 fraternity and sorority volunteers will walk the costumed children between houses and supervise activities.

All proceeds from the event’s sponsorships will be donated to participating children’s organizations.
