Keyboardist highlight of Union Theater special event

January 28, 2009

Playing piano since age 9, Buckwheat Zydeco came to the limelight in 1984 with his “Zydeco Boogaloo,” one of the genre’s signature songs. An electrifying performer and expert keyboards and accordion player, Zydeco is an innovator who crafted a bold new sound for zydeco. Most lately, he recorded two Bob Dylan songs with Yo La Tengo for the 2007 film “I’m Not There.” Zydeco also is a four-time Grammy nominee.

The performance/dance party is scheduled for 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 18, at the Memorial Union’s Great Hall.
