Influential avant garde film director to lecture

March 8, 2005

Two special lectures/screenings with Peter Kubelka, one of the most distinguished figures in avant garde film will be presented by Cinematheque on Friday and Saturday, March 11 and 12.

Kubelka will show and discuss his “metric films,” in which every part of the film is measured and communicates every other part, on Friday. On Saturday, he will present his “metaphoric films,” hybrids of documentary, narrative and abstraction that present “monuments” to the world.

Both evenings will begin at 7:30 p.m. in 4070 Vilas Hall and are free and open to the public. For more, contact Tom Yoshikami, 262-3627 or tsyoshikami@wisc.edu.
