Humorist McBride highlights cancer survivors week

Humorist Mary McBride, the top writer for comedian Phyllis Diller for 30 years, will be the featured speaker for the kick-off of Cancer Survivors Week, May 30-June 3 at the UW Comprehensive Cancer Center located at UW Hospital and Clinics.

A breast cancer survivor, McBride will share her own personal stories and anecdotes in “Humor – A Healing Strategy” on Tuesday, May 30 from 2-3 p.m. in the G5/119 Auditorium at UW Hospital, 600 Highland Avenue, Madison. The event is free and open to the public.

In addition to being a writer for Diller, McBride was also Joan Rivers’ principal writer from 1975-1980. She is a successful cartoon gag writer, having been published in Good Housekeeping, Saturday Evening Post and Family Circle.
