Hahn is stepping in for Joanne Berg, who is retiring later this summer to open a bookstore on Monroe Street. Hahn will continue in his position at the Graduate School and serve half time in each role during the interim appointment. Berg will work with Steve for some time over the summer in the transition period before she retires.

Provost Paul M. DeLuca said Hahn has “a comprehensive grasp of the institutional needs, a clear understanding of the present trajectory, and a managerial skill set suitable for this position.”

Hahn has been an assistant dean at the Graduate School since 2010.  Prior to that he served as the chief information officer of the Graduate School, and from 2000 to 2003 Hahn was vice president for consulting at ApplyYourself, Inc., a college recruitment and admissions company based in Fairfax, Va.

The interim appointment is expected to extend for at least six months. Later in 2013, DeLuca expects to launch a search and screen committee to fill the position permanently.

The offices of Undergraduate Admissions and Recruitment, Student Financial Aid, Registrar and Integrated Student Information Systems (ISIS) report to the vice provost for enrollment management.
