Grab a PB & J with the dean of students

September 30, 2008

Dean of Students Lori Berquam and staff from Offices of the Dean of Students (ODOS) will greet students and hand out free peanut butter and jelly sandwiches from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 8.

PB & J with the Dean” will be held in the middle of Bascom Hill. Sandwiches will be available on a first-come, first-served basis to 1,500 students. Plain jelly sandwiches will also be available for students who have food allergies or special dietary needs.

The event is designed to help students become familiar with ODOS staff and services and aware of where various offices are located on campus.

Provost Patrick Farrell will also attend from 11:30 a.m.-noon to meet students. From noon-12:30 p.m., Chancellor Carolyn “Biddy” Martin will be on hand.

As part of the event, Berquam will be asking students to pay special attention to safety around the clock, as part of her “Safety 24/7” campaign.

In particular, she has been asking the campus community to use SAFE Nighttime Services, walk with friends and use common sense in the wake of a string of recent robberies.

ODOS is made up of student-focused units, playing an important role in promoting the Wisconsin Experience, providing student support and crisis services, and advocating for diversity and campus climate.
